This referendum on the use of high-stakes testing is designed to initiate a much- needed conversation among parents of public school children.
Our children take many tests. They also spend much school time preparing for tests. Many of these tests are “high stakes” – that is, the results are used to make critical decisions about a child, a teacher, a principal, or a school. These decisions could determine:
